River & South Review is published semiannually in Summer (May) and Winter (December).
Submissions are accepted during specific times only, approximately two months
prior to publication. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer payment to
contributors at this time. We accept only previously unpublished work. Rights
revert to author upon publication.
River & South Review seeks quality submissions of short fiction and
nonfiction (up to 1200 words total), and poetry (up to three poems). Special
issues may feature specific and/or additional genres. Regardless of genre, we seek
well-crafted pieces that demonstrate skill with form and language, explore
boundaries, and engage readers.
River & South Review only publishes new writing from emerging
writers of any age who have not gone on to a graduate writing degree. We
consider submissions from undergraduates, writers without a formal education,
and writers from other professions.
